Course Overview
Aerospace Engineering at Illinois offers graduate programs leading to the degrees of Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Aerospace Engineering (AE). A student may pursue major study in one of the following general areas: aerodynamics, astrodynamics, combusion and propulsion, control systems, dynamical systems, fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, and materials. The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Illinois is an international leader in aerospace science and engineering. With nationally ranked undergraduate and graduate programs, internationally renowned faculty, and state-of-the-art research facilities, the department is committed to excellence and leadership in teaching, research, and service. AE at Illinois is committed to cooperative research within the university and with other universities, state and federal government agencies, and industry. Our faculty and graduate students are active in a variety of interdisciplinary centers including Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, Coordinated Science Laboratory (CSL) , Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory, National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) , and Information Trust Institute. AE faculty and graduate students conduct research in over twenty different laboratories on campus and consistently play a role in the development of major advances in aircraft and space applications.
