Course Overview
Master of Applied Clinical and Preclinical Research (MACPR) is a professionally-oriented master's degree program designed to be flexible and convenient to students at either the career-entry or mid-career level. All MACPR courses are offered online. The program will accept applicants with any undergraduate degree and is particularly well suited for graduates with a degree in the life sciences or pharmaceutical sciences, health care professionals, and those with graduate degrees in the biomedical sciences seeking to diversify their training. The program includes a cumulative capstone project or practicum with a contracted clinical/preclinical research mentor where students have an opportunity to participate as a professional research team member and apply clinical/preclinical research administrative and scientific principles. As research protocols and the global expansion of medical product development have become increasingly complex, the responsibilities of clinical and preclinical research professionals have increased significantly. The new MACPR program will prepare graduates to address these challenges as highly effective administrators, regulatory specialists, and research team members in clinical and preclinical research studies. Four interdisciplinary specializations are offered: Clinical Research Management ' directed by the College of Nursing, Regulatory Affairs ' directed by the Colleges of Nursing and Pharmacy, Safety Pharmacology ' directed by the College of Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacology ' directed by the College of Medicine
