Course Overview

The faculty at UF continually reshapes the Master of Arts in Art Education online curriculum to meet the needs of the evolving educational landscape. Grounded in both theory and practice, the program promotes meaningful learning and art making techniques through high-level interactions, group collaboration, independent study and more. Elective and core curriculum can include the study of: Art Criticism and/or Art History, Contemporary Issues in Art Education, Curriculum in Teaching Art, History of Teaching Art, Methods of Research in Art Education, Art Education in Alterative Sites, Both conventional and digital tools as creative, expressive media, Use of Social Media as a Professional Development and Teaching Tool, One of the unique characteristics of the University of Florida online Master of Arts in Art Education program is its emphasis on immersive, hands-on art making experiences, through the inclusion of advanced studio courses. This includes on-campus summer studio courses during the Summer term in Gainesville, Florida, as well as online studio courses involving new and traditional media. Studio experiences are available on a rotating basis and include such courses as Sketchbook, Printmaking, Digital Photography, Digital Video, Design and Painting.
