Course Overview
This highly innovative program is taught jointly by the Director and Curators of the Art Gallery of South Australia and the Art History staff of the University of Adelaide, in the Art Gallery around objects in the collection, and at the University. It is taught by practising gallery and museum professionals about collection development and management including databases and registration, display and interpretation of objects; and researching, designing, mounting and marketing exhibitions in a range of museums and galleries. Students take four courses in Art History, followed by two courses in Curatorial and Museum Studies, where students complete self-initiated research projects. Graduates are equipped to work in the gallery and museum sector in curatorial work, public programs, education, registration and collection management.
