Course Overview

The Commercial Vehicle Cluster (CVC) has established a platform for communication and cooperation between the industries and research institutes in the region. The University of Kaiserslautern is located right in the geographical heart of the CVC. As a result, it is within a very close proximity to both manufacturing industries, as well as a variety of renowned research institutes. The University itself promotes research, innovation and technology transfer for the commercial vehicle industries. It is the leading network in Europe for graduate education, doctoral training and R&D in the field of commercial vehicle technology. The commercial vehicle industry sector develops and produces a broad variety of high tech products ranging from trucks, buses, agricultural vehicles and construction vehicles, to a large scope of specialized machines. Commercial vehicle technology and its field of application are generally much more extensive, complex, and demanding in comparison to those of the automotive sector. For example, today, a typical commercial vehicle hosts upwards of 100 embedded systems, based on over 15 million lines of software code.
