Course Overview

This Digital Marketing course at Nottingham Trent University has been designed in close collaboration with senior digital marketers and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) to expose you to the very latest thinking, tools and techniques in digital and social media marketing. It aims to give you the skills sought after by today-s employers and opportunities to work at a strategic and tactical level. In your first semester, you'll explore the fundamental issues and concepts of marketing practice, before learning about consumer buying behaviour and the factors influencing it. You'll take a holistic view of an organisation and how it attempts to develop marketing strategy in a challenging global environment. Your second semester explores issues around digital marketing management, as well as practical skills such as creating and using digital marketing plans and metrics. You'll also develop a strong understanding of consumer engagement. Finally, in your third semester, you'll choose a major practical project, with the opportunity to use your skills in a real-world setting, conduct independent research or gain work experience overseas. Why choose this course? Throughout this course you will benefit from: Exposure to leading-edge marketing thinking, tools and techniques. You can choose to add a year's work placement, making your master's a two year course. The partnership with the CIM means that on successful completion of the MSc Digital Marketing course you will have the opportunity to gain an extra qualification, the Level 4 CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing. You'll also be a student member of the CIM and be exempt from certain modules on either the CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing or CIM Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing. Input from marketing professionals. Previous speakers have worked in senior marketing roles for large corporate organisations such as 3M, Boots, E. ON, VW or for smaller marketing and design agencies. Small group teaching delivered by a team of specialists who have both academic and extensive marketing industry credentials. Students on these routes typically come from over 25 different countries, which means you will have a truly international learning experience. There is a unique opportunity to complete a major marketing project - either a Consultancy Experience, Internship, Business Research Project or Global Experience. The project options will enhance your CV and allow you to stand out in a very competitive job market. You will complete a comprehensive development programme, which includes a short residential team-building course, usually held in the Peak District. A personal tutor will support you throughout the year with a structured programme of personal development. Career workshops, talks and advice from our team of trained career consultants are all available to ensure you succeed in the job market. Work Placement Opportunity: You may be able to add a years' work placement, making your master's a two year course. It's a great way to put your learning into practice and gain valuable real-world experience to boost your career. Careers and employability. Career prospects: This course can help you move into a career in marketing communications within a large corporate, small to medium sized business or digital marketing agency. You could become an account manager, digital manager, SEO content strategist, social media manager or digital experience manager, among other marketing roles. Career development As an integral part of the course, careers advisers will run a series of workshops where students can identify methods and strategies to enable them to effectively pursue their career goals. The workshops will focus on both home and international students and concentrate on developing skills and occupational awareness.
