Course Overview
Students pursuing the newly developed Quantitative Methods in Education Policy track will fulfill the 12-hour concentration through a specially designed set of methods courses in statistical analysis, causal inference, and data management. All M. P. P. students complete a field-based practicum (three credit hours). Through the practicum experience, students apply the content knowledge and analytical skills derived from M. P. P coursework to professionally-based policy work. A policy paper to be approved by M. P. P. faculty completes the practicum experience. The M. P. P. program serves as preparation for a variety of careers in education policy and policy analysis. Recent graduates have assumed positions in state and federal education agencies, legislatures, district-level offices; colleges and universities, foundations, non-profit organizations, and private research firms and think tanks. Graduates have also pursued advanced study in law, or doctoral programs in education and the social sciences.
