Course Overview

The interdisciplinary Master of Health Informatics program is designed with the vision of health as the focus and technology as the enabler. Our program offers training in analyzing the issues and then designing solutions to improve all aspects of health care, from the delivery of patient care to the promotion of healthy lives. No prior degree in health informatics or IT needed, You don't need a prior degree in health informatics or information technology to join our program. The program is well suited to working health professionals, information technology professionals, foreign-trained health professionals and students direct from a bachelor degree. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds: Medicine and health professions, Computer science and information technology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Health education, Dentistry, Management. Do it your way: With full-time and part-time options, the Master in Health Informatics program gives you the flexibility to choose a pace that works for you. Whether you choose to do a thesis or an internship, by the time you finish, you'll be able to: manage health information and health data analytics, design health information systems, evaluate health IT outcomes, manage health information projects, conduct health information research understand and use new health informatics technologies. New opportunities: A master's degree in health informatics from Dalhousie will open many new doors for your career. You could: work as a health information analyst/specialist in a healthcare organization, become a health informatics consultant, join the health informatics industry to design, develop and deploy health IT products and services, pursue a research career in a university as a PhD student or join industry, analyze health data to derive intelligence by becoming a health data analyst, manage health IT projects
