Course Overview
The M.S. in Midwifery program integrates six terms studying theory with four terms of hands-on clinical practice. Theoretical components include readings, seminar discussions, problem-based learning tutorials, writing assignments, return demonstrations, quizzes, case studies, peer review and proctored examinations. The hands-on practice components are learned through clinical placements under the direction of a qualified midwife preceptor. Though primarily a distance learning program, you will attend two on-campus sessions for intensive learning of hand skills, critical reflection and time to bond with classmates and faculty. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to sit for the national examination of the American Midwifery Certification Board to earn the credential CNM or CM.
