Course Overview
The School of Molecular Biosciences (SMB) offers outstanding opportunities for graduate students to pursue research projects in the life sciences using state of the art equipment in a modern research building. SMB faculty are at the forefront of their fields and are conducting research in a diverse and exciting range of topics including reproductive and developmental biology, microbiology, biochemistry, and cell biology. The Professional Science Master's in Molecular Biosciences is designed to help science students transition into high-paying careers. It is often compared to the Masters in Business Administration, in that it trains students to be leaders and managers in a professional environment. The Professional Science Master's (PSM) in molecular biosciences is designed to help students transition into the workplace by training them in skills that employers need. The interdisciplinary option is available online, or students can choose to take some courses on the Pullman campus. One career-oriented aspect of the program is that it requires an internship with a business rather than a thesis. The nationwide shortage of scientists with managerial and business training means PSM graduates will be well positioned for employment.
