Course Overview

The aim is the independent performance of surgical procedures and prosthetic treatments on the patient and the development of critical, reflective, professional competence. This blended learning Masters course has a modular structure and will be conducted primarily in English. German-speaking students will however be permitted to take examinations and submit their Masters dissertation in German. The course will only be conducted in German if all enrolled students are exclusively German speakers. A module is a pre-defined teaching unit with a specific content and which is run over a specific time period. As a rule modules are an amalgamation of related teaching content, including practical experience, project work and independent study periods. The modules are concluded with examinations, the results of which count towards the final Masters qualification. Each module is allocated a predefined number of credits. The number of credits available for each module is specified in the module content description. Each student is able to access interactive teaching material via a website in order to monitor and support independent study during the preparation/processing phase of material for/from seminars and teaching units that take place at the University campus, as well as independent study carried out during the placement and supervision modules. Furthermore, all case documentation can be uploaded to the University server so that this can be assessed in order to ensure the quality of each students practical skills.
