Course Overview
The field has changed so rapidly, in fact, that there are few scientists who have the necessary training and knowledge in new sequencing technologies and analysis of sequence data and genomics. To fill that training gap, Johns Hopkins University has developed a five-course certificate for individuals that have masters or doctoral degrees and need practical training in the bioinformatics tools required for large-scale sequence analysis and genomics. The Johns Hopkins Post Master's Graduate Certificate in Sequence Analysis and Genomics was designed for scientists who already have an extensive grounding in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology and but need the bioinformatics skills to design experiments and analyze data. The program introduces students to the foundations of bioinformatics through the core bioinformatics courses and then the students take upper level courses that are required for understanding and performing sequence and genomic analysis.
