Born and raised in Alabama, I earned my B.A. (economics) from The University of Alabama and my J.D. from Harvard Law School. After practicing law and working in public policy, I entered academia. I spent almost six years as a lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin, where I taught Business Law, Commercial Transactions, and Corporate Law. I left UT-Austin, to accept a tenure-track faculty position at Stephen F. Austin State University, where I serve as Assistant Professor of Legal Students. At SFA, I teach Business Law and Real Estate Law. In addition, I have served as an instructor at Kaplan University (Environmental Policy and Management; Economics of Environmental Management), Concordia University Texas (Business Law; Money, Banking, and Credit), and The University of Texas at San Antonio (Analytical and Logical Reasoning).
Outside of teaching, I am an owner of several businesses in Austin and San Antonio, including Law School Savvy. I co-founded Law School Savvy several years ago, with an esteemed LSAT-prep coach in Austin. I teach 3-day seminars in the summer to rising 1Ls. The seminars are focused on practical tools for law-school success. We stay in touch with our Law School Savvy alums, so that we can get feedback from them throughout their time in law school, in order to make future seminars even more effective. The tools I teach in the seminars are among the services I offer via PreLawCoach.
Throughout my 9+ years as a collegiate educator, I have advised students who are interested in attending law school. I have lost count of the number of advising meetings I have had with students, the number of personal statements I have edited, and the number of recommendation letters I have written. None of it has ever felt like work. On the contrary, advising students has been such an honor and joy. I sincerely care about students and want them to succeed, so being a part of their journey has been a tremendous privilege.
My hobbies include traveling, exercising, crossword puzzles, and spending an unhealthy amount of time on Netflix. I am a die-hard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, the San Antonio Spurs, the Boston Red Sox, and top-flight European club soccer. My wife and I have two young children, who are the greatest things ever to happen to us. Being a dad is my greatest joy.
My Philosophy on Teaching/Advising
My philosophy on advising students is pretty simple: Be honest. Be encouraging. Give my best. These are the things I have always done for students in the past, and they are exactly what I intend to do for all students in the future. I am passionate about education and about students. If this were not true, I would not be in academia, and I would not have started this business. If my heart is not in it, then I am wasting students' time and money, and I never want to waste either. I want students to know I value them and do not view advising as an assembly line of students to whom I offer impersonal, uniform services. Instead, I always try to tailor my services to the individual. I want students to be confident that I am invested in them and will work hard to ensure that I give them personalized and appropriate advice and coaching. If you decide to hire me for any service(s), this is exactly who I will try to be for you. Your future is something I take very seriously, and I would not be in this business if I did not believe I could help you or did not truly care about your success.
"Drew is a game changer in the world of LSAT and Law School admissions. I am extremely grateful I had the privilege of taking Drew’s Business Law course. Not only did the course introduce me to Drew, but I finished the semester knowing I needed to attend law school. Drew transitioned from my professor to my law school mentor; he shaped me in to an LSAT warrior and guided me through the entire application process. If you ask any student Drew has helped, we will all say the same thing: Drew is kind, patient, attentive, and truly wants to see each of his students succeed."

Is PreLawCoach for me?
PreLawCoach, LLC, was created for anyone interested in law school. If you're ready to begin your journey toward law school, I offer a range of services designed to help you: admissions/applications advising; LSAT and subject-matter tutoring; and law-school-preparedness coaching. Maybe you haven't even started college but want to map out a pre-law plan to follow during college. I'll help you make one. Even if you're unsure whether law school is the right choice for you, I'm glad you found me. Schedule an initial consultation, and let's chat about it!
Initial Consultations
A 30-minute consultation costs just $25. If you purchase a service, the $25 will be credited to your bill! A consultation is not required, in order to receive other services, but it's a great way to find out if we are a good match for each other.
Why choose PreLawCoach?
I am passionate about helping students. I won't offer one-size-fits-all services. Rather, I will tailor my services to meet your specific needs. I will always be authentic and honest. I won't sugar coat anything. I will be as serious about your law-school journey as I was my own.
I'm flexible regarding time and method of service. If we can't meet in person, I will make myself available via phone, email, and video chat. I'm available to individuals and to groups. I offer a range of pricing options. Cafeteria pricing is offered for admissions/applications/employment advising (with discounts for multiple services), while law-school-preparedness coaching and LSAT/subject-matter tutoring are offered at hourly rates (with discounts for groups).
