Tourism, Sports & Leisure

Leisure is classically defined as “the non-productive consumption of time” – activities pursued by choice, rather than out of necessity. People have been choosing to use their time in this way forever. The global Leisure industry is worth billions of dollars, and there is significant demand for people with an expert understanding of this sector. Given the diversity of Leisure activities, most universities offer courses specialising in specific kinds of Leisure – such as Sport or Tourism. The intention behind all these courses is to prepare students for work in that specific industry, although they often include a wealth of transferable skills. Some Masters courses combine related specialisms in this space – such as Tourism and Hospitality – to produce an integrated course, suited to those who have aspirations in both sectors.
