Medicine and Healthcare

Medicine and Healthcare are devoted to maintaining and improving the physical and mental wellbeing of human beings, through the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of ailments, injuries, and maladies. The study of human disease and wellbeing is conducted by scholars working in a number of allied disciplines in the natural and social sciences – including epidemiology, psychology, medical sociology, anatomy, biochemistry, biomedicine and pathology. These disciplines together build a foundation of rigorously researched findings, that the Healthcare professions apply to the treatment of patients and public health matters. A large number of different professions – including nursing, pharmacy, audiology, nutrition, medicine, physiotherapy, optometry and audiology – fall under the rubric of healthcare. Although most of these professions require long-term training that begins at undergraduate level, there are a number of Masters that can allow those outside of a Healthcare background to enter into the sector.
