Part Time Courses for Creative Writing

As the poet Maya Angelou once said, ‘there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you’. Creative writing masters students will develop and fine-tune their writing skills in your chosen genre, albeit it fiction, nonfiction, poetry, children’s literature, or scriptwriting for film, radio and the theatre. At a postgraduate level, you will be pushed to explore and experiment, pushing the boundaries of where your writing can go, what you can say, and how you can say it. Masters students in creative writing will usually have successful writers as their mentors, and it is not only their guidance which will be important, but a mentor will help your ability in sharing, critiquing and reviewing work. This relationship with the mentor, as well as with the other students, is especially beneficial and enriching. Graduates usually go onto become successful writers, playwrights, screenwriters, academics or journalists.
