Modern History

Modern history explores the political, scientific, technological, artistic and social development in the period between the seventeenth and the twentieth century. A Masters in modern history will investigate this time period through the lens of topics such as the rise of capitalism, scientific and technologic advancements, industrialization, urbanisation, warfare, social movements, democracy, communism, modernism, globalisation, the sexual revolution, religious conflicts and much more. A postgraduate student of modern history will become well versed on major global developments, and the various ways the past has informed our collective present. Not only this, but a modern history student will learn how to research, analyse, communicate, and argue their point effectively. With a postgraduate degree in modern history, students usually go onto careers in politics, business, academia, journalism, or media.
