Language Studies

As Nelson Mandela once said, ‘if you speak to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language that goes to his heart’. Language studies students will not only learn to communicate fluently in another language, but they will also immerse themselves in the culture of that language. In doing so, masters language students become extremely well versed on the literature, art, film and music of other countries. This allows them to develop a greater global understanding, and in turn, the ability to learn more about their own country and culture, and the significance of this in an increasingly interconnected world. With a postgraduate degree in language studies, students will improve their oral and written communication skills, as well as being able to process vast amounts of information. Thus, language studies graduates are increasingly desirable for employers in the progressively globalized world that we live in. Graduates usually go on to pursue a career in journalism, business, translator, researcher, or interpreter.
